Abstract
A novel algorithm is presented in this paper to restore images corrupted by impulsive noise. In a proposed algorithm a pixel is modified when it is considered as corrupted by impulse. Only the average values of the good or correct pixels are employed to replace the value of the impulsive noise corrupted pixel. Comparing with the median filter, which is excellent for impulse noise, this new algorithm is more effective. In the end simulation results show that the new algorithm is simple and robust.
