Abstract
The effect of process parameters on an EDM namely pulse on time (TON), duty cycle (DC), discharge current (I) and gap voltage (V) were studied based on Tool Overcut (TOC). Taguchi’s L9 orthogonal array was selected for conducting the experiments. Optimization was carried out using Signal to Noise ratios (SNR) and the main effects plot based on SNR. Duty cycle was found to be the most significant parameter that effected TOC followed by discharge current and pulse on time. Gap voltage had the least effect on TOC.
