This paper presents an in-depth investigation of the dynamic performance of the Static Var Compensator SVC theoretically and by exact digital simulation. The major factors of the SVC instability analyzed and a new Automatic Gain Controller AGC proposed to ensure the stable operation of the SVC under various load conditions. The performance of SVC scheme connected to the 230kV grid is evaluated. In addition, all details of the model is implementation, the controls used, and the data for studied system are providing in the paper.
