In recent years, electric power systems, greater demands have been placed on the transmission network. Maintaining power system stability becomes difficult and challenging problem. FACTS technology have new opportunities for controlling power and enhancing the usable capacity of transmission line , FACTS Controllers to enable corresponding power to flow through such lines under normal and contingency conditions. A method to determine the optimal location of thyristor controlled series compensators (TCSC) and unified power flow control (UPFC) has been suggested based on real power performance index,reduction of total system reactive power loss and SOL index . The tested system is ieee 30 bus system.
